Joshua grew up in the Calvary Chapel movement in Orange County — shaped by verse-by-verse teaching and a Christ-centered Christ-simple faith. He studied pastoral ministry under Jon Courson, served as a high school pastor and associate pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa under Chuck Smith, and studied church planting at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

He and his wife Shea spent four years planting and pastoring a church in San Francisco before coming home to Orange County to start Everwell in 2017.

Joshua teaches through books of the Bible, pursues the presence of God through prayer and the Holy Spirit, and believes the deepest truth often comes through the simplest conversations. He reads too many books, coaches his daughter's soccer team, walks with his dog Sunday and thinks the best theology usually sounds like a story.
